Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working for NBC News in Washington D.C., is a television anchor. She received a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. Mitchell began her career with KYW Radio and TV as the Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. She was a reporter for the CBS subsidiary WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. A few years later, she was a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. In 1981 began reporting on the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. She became the chief White House reporter in 1992, and chief Foreign Affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV program Meet the Press and also hosted the program. She was on the panel in the presidential debates in 1988 between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded numerous times in journalism, among them her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. Mitchell was also awarded with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell started covering for the White House in 1981-1988, both during Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell covered a range of interesting stories such as arms control the budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal. She also went on numerous trips along with the president Reagan to summits alongside Mikhail Gorbachev and other world leaders.
